About Brick Break Protocol
Brick Break Protocol is our take on the brick-breaker formula that started with arcade classics in the 1970s. You control a paddle at the bottom of a neon arena and keep an energy sphere in play, bouncing it upward to shatter every glowing cyan target on the board. The theme is a network intrusion: each level is an "infiltration sector", and clearing it means the protocol has been completed.
What sets it apart from a basic brick breaker is the level design. Many sectors are built around indestructible dark-matter blocks that cannot be destroyed, so you have to use them as bumpers to reach targets tucked into corners and behind walls. The paddle also imparts spin: if it is moving when the sphere hits it, the ball curves, which gives you real control over where your next shot goes.
There are five hand-built sectors plus a Random option that generates a fresh layout every time, so there is always a new board to try once you have mastered the set pieces.
How to play Brick Break Protocol
- Pick a sector from the menu: levels 1 to 5, or Random for a generated layout.
- Move the paddle to keep the energy sphere from falling past the bottom of the screen (the containment zone).
- Every cyan target you hit is destroyed. Clear all of them to complete the sector.
- Some targets drop power-ups as they break. Catch them with the paddle to add extra spheres or gain an extra ball.
- The sphere speeds up automatically as the number of remaining targets drops, so the end of every level is the hardest part.
- If the sphere gets past you and you have no balls left, you get a System Failure screen where you can retry the level or generate a new one. Once per level you can also use Last Chance to carry on where you left off.

| Paddle movement on contact | Adds spin so the sphere curves |
| Pause button (⏸) | Pause, resume or return to the menu |
| ? button | Open the in-game instructions |
Tips and strategy
- Use spin deliberately. Sweeping the paddle toward the side the ball is heading makes it curve outward, which is the easiest way to get behind a column of dark-matter blocks.
- Aim for gaps early. Once a ball gets above a row of targets it can bounce around up there and clear several blocks without you touching it.
- Multi-ball power-ups are strongest when lots of targets remain. Near the end of a level, prioritise keeping one sphere alive over chasing all of them.
- Because speed rises as targets fall, try to leave the easy, open targets for last and deal with the awkward, hidden ones while the sphere is still slow.
- The Random sector is a great warm-up: layouts vary a lot, so it trains you to read a board quickly.
Frequently asked questions
How many levels are there?
Five designed sectors, plus a Random mode that builds a new layout every time you play it.
Can I destroy the dark grey blocks?
No. The metallic dark-matter structures are permanent. They are there to bounce the sphere into tight spaces.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Drag anywhere to move the paddle. The game scales to fit portrait phone screens as well as desktop browsers.
Is my progress saved?
Completed sectors are logged in the in-game Database screen, which is stored locally in your browser.
